PENCE GALLERY. Erica Norelius’ new series of work offers an in-depth dive into the natural spaces of the Golden State, reaching from the coastal cities and desert areas, north towards Oregon. The quiet presence of man is often seen in small intrusions such as power lines and roads. 11:30a—5p. Free
PENCE GALLERY. Women artists have long used humor and satire to critique the unequal treatment of women, in areas from reproductive rights to their depiction in the media. Women’s Work is a sampling of contemporary sculpture and paintings by thirteen artists who redefine gender and femininity through their art. Free

THE ARTERY. “Spring into Glass” celebrates the rich tapestry of glass craftsmanship created by the northern California glass community. You will see sculpture, blown glass, fused glass, stained glass, lampworking, jewelry making, cast glass. The artists include current Artery members, former members, and esteemed guest artists.

PENCE GALLERY. Through the process of art making, participants have opportunities for discussion, education, and connecting with peers in a safe and supportive space in the Pence Learning Center under the guidance of facilitators Amy Vidra and Lyndsey Rocca. Participants must be 18 or older, and no art experience is necessary. This is a free program, and all materials are provided. Limited to the first 8 participants who register. 10a—11:45a. Free
PENCE GALLERY. This is a drop-in program for ages 5-12, with no pre-registration required. Projects are designed to introduce kids to making their own artwork by experimenting with creative ideas and materials. Our resident art teacher will introduce you to the wealth of possibilities in our upstairs classroom. 1p—3p. $4-8
PENCE GALLERY; various locations. Visit five gorgeous private gardens in Davis on this self-guided tour, and enjoy learning about plant selection from Yolo County Master Gardeners. Stop by the Pence for a special demonstration by Inga Poslitur of her floral paintings from 2-5 PM, or take a quick tour of her exhibit Renewal at 1 PM. Also, the first 150 people to visit the Pence can pick up a free snack bag. 12p—5p. $25—35
ROCKNASIUM. Join us for an awesome craft fair featuring 7+ Davis local artists and vendors, live music from local band, Big Fish, and some climbing. Craft fair & live music entry is FREE. Anyone hoping to climb MUST fill out a Rocknasium waiver and purchase a day pass. 2p—6p. Free

PENCE GALLERY. Both assemblage and sculpture combine various objects to create a three-dimensional work of art. A sculpture may use a limited palette of materials or colors to unify the piece to make it cohesive. In this three-hour workshop, students will learn the basics of sculpture with artist Amy Vidra. Participants will be guided through the fundamentals of sculpture and will have time to stroll through Davis to find their own inspirational found objects to include in their pieces. PENCE GALLERY. Participants will learn design, composition, shape, line, point, value, and color, as well as wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry watercolor techniques. Students will produce an interactive artwork by combining watercolor expression and abstraction, sketches of natural objects, and Chinese calligraphy. Nelson will lead a gallery walk-through of the Women’s Work exhibit, exploring how participating artists critique and challenge gender roles and current definitions of femininity in their work. Whether they are celebrating the contributions of specific women who have battled injustice and discrimination in their fight for social justice, or honoring women as a whole, these artists have much to say on the subject of being a woman. 2p—3:30p. PENCE GALLERY. Part of the Pence’s Healing Arts Program and run by facilitator Amy Vidra, this one-time, 90-minute art workshop focuses more broadly on a theme related to depression, anxiety, or major life changes. 2pm—3:30pm. Free
