THE ARTERY. The Artery presents “The Artery Menagerie” in conjunction with CCACA, the ceramic sculpture conference at the Natsoulas Gallery. The invitational exhibit of animal sculptures features twenty eight Northern California ceramic artists. Many of these artists competed in our previous California Clay Competition. Wesley Wright, a speaker at the CCACA, is also represented in the show. Free.

DAVIS VETERANS MEMORIAL THEATER. Communicare+Ole Health Centers is hosting our 4th annual Black Maternal Health Week event. The program starts at 2pm with light refreshments and tabling by local community organizations. The documentary, Birthing Justice, will begin at 3:30pm, followed by a Q&A panel discussion with Black maternity care professionals & audience from 5-6pm. The film addresses the impact of racism on disparate outcomes for Black families & provides a mandate with examples for change. The goal of the event is to bring together maternity care providers & community members to learn about one another’s experiences, highlight community resources available to support Black families, & work together to improve outcomes & birthing experiences for Black families in our community. 2p – 6p. Free.

BLAMCHARD ROOM of DAVIS LIBRARY. Award-winning photographer Sam Shaw to Lead Photography Club of Davis Workshop The Photography Club of Davis will meet on Wednesday, April 16. from 7:10pm – 8:45pm . Guest speaker Sam Shaw will present two compelling topics. The first, “Twilight Zone and Beyond,” explores the artistry of photography during the captivating hours between sunset and sunrise. The second, “Journey into AI,” offers a concise and engaging introduction to artificial intelligence, delving into what it truly is—and what it is not. The free workshop is open to the public. THE OAKENSHIELD COTTAGE. You are invited to join us for an evening of heart-to-heart connection, where we go beyond the surface & dive into the essence of our shared humanity. Whether you are seeking to make new friendships, deepen existing relationships, or just explore new ways of connecting, The Village Heart offers a space for curiosity & exploration. Guided Connection Activities: These include moving through the space with others, partner exercises, & group activities that encourage meaningful interactions & new ways of relating to one another. Opportunities to Explore and Stretch Comfort Zones: Whether you are sharing, listening or engaging in somatic practices, every exercise is an invitation to stretch just beyond your comfort zone in a safe and supportive environment. Each participant is free to choose their level of engagement at all times & opt out of any exercise. Reflective Sharing and Group Dynamics: We’ll explore different ways of connecting in small groups or pairs, always with the invitation to speak from the present moment & lean into what’s authentically true for you. Space is limited & early registration is recommended. 7p – 9:3-p. Tickets: $25 before April 14th/$35 after.
ODD FELLOWS LODGE. Join the Easter Bunny on Saturday, April 19 at the Davis Odd Fellows Lodge for breakfast, a parade, an egg hunt, & creative play & carnival! Families will enjoy a cold breakfast with the Easter Bunny at 9 a.m., including cereal, muffins, yogurt, juice & fruit. At about 10 o’clock, participants join the Bunny for a special parade through the farmers market toward the Community Church lawn to hunt for eggs! Following the hunt, families return to the lodge until noon to enjoy fun activities including cookie decorating, card decorating, face painting, guided drawings, Play-Doh, carnival games, & more! All event proceeds go to the Davis Encampment Campership Fund. The benefit fund provides pool passes, camping excursions, Explorit passes, and other experiences for underprivileged children throughout our community. 9a – 12p. $15.
