PENCE GALLERY. Slice celebrates the diversity of expression in our region with an array of sculpture, prints, paintings, and photography created by 36 visual artists. Representing a ‘slice’ of work fresh from the studio produced by new and established artists working in the state, this annual juried exhibit has quickly gained a reputation for displaying innovative and thought-provoking work. This year’s juror is Gioia Fonda, a dedicated member of the Sacramento art community and a tenured professor of art at Sacramento City College. 11:30a—5p. Free
PENCE GALLERY. Mirabel Wigon’s Earth Stars brings together her expansive new series of botanical inspired paintings. Working in oil and acrylic on canvas, her paintings have an illustrative quality, immersing the viewer in imaginative worlds where flora works in tandem with geometric forms. The surreal nature of her paintings is augmented by the use of augmented reality technology, in which viewers can see forms take 3D form. 11:30a—5p. Free
PENCE GALLERY. In this 6-week course, artist Misuk Goltz will guide you through essential watercolor techniques to help you paint your favorite subjects more expressively. Sessions will cover choosing inspiring subjects and methods for creating colors, textures, and values to elevate your art. 10a—12p. $195—215
PENCE GALLERY. Art in Action engages kids in art projects that are fun, creative, and collaborative with their family members. Use your imagination to bring your favorite animal to life! PENCE GALLERY. Students will learn how to design for relief printing, transfer the design to the block, use various types of ink, and create single prints and repeating patterns on paper and fabric.
